Major In Contemporary Fashion and Textiles
Uses the material garment and textiles as a vehicle for exploration in relation to the body, object, site, image, contemporary fashion, found garment and contemporary art.
Students will investigate and apply a range of non-industrial construction techniques, creative material methodologies and contextual research approaches.
The major also engages students in a range of contextual and historical investigations to do with the garment and textiles and the contexts in which they function. It prepares them for a range of creative design and contemporary art outcomes such as textile design and production, pattern making and garment construction, contemporary art and fashion presentation, and contemporary art practice.
Students can elect to specialise within this major by selecting units with a bias towards either fashion or textiles. Alternatively they can select their units from a combination of the two areas.

Contemporary fashion and textiles offers students the option of focusing on either area as a single major or combining both as a major and minor.
